Thinking through what we wanted to achieve led us to realise we needed people to be part of our thinking and movement and join us in changing the face of care – ‘good care’ at the point of delivery.
We need people to count themselves in and to support our vision hence, ‘I’m in’ – denoting support for the need to improve care and bring hope to those suffering the disease that there is an amazing new facility in which they can experience a whole new dimension of care with assurances they will end their days in peace and with dignity.
The ‘I’ in iMind can also be seen as an eye. We believe it is about helping people understand the condition and look into the world of the person suffering the disease. The individual suffering with dementia has no way of understanding our world because the illness prevents or at best, limits them from being able to assimilate and retain information. It is therefore essential we understand their world, we look and see the challenge, frustrations and limitations they are facing on a daily basis.
The ‘iMin’ represents the circle of care. From initial awareness through to diagnosis, the individual often has little or no knowledge of what ‘care’ they may need. For most, they have no idea as to where they will find out about the options or availability of care. In our experience, most individuals and their families are frightened and alone in the journey of finding care.
For us it is about closing the loop. It is about supporting and bringing hope to people’s lives. It’s about knowing there is a wonderful haven of expertise that will be able to meet their needs.
The iMin creates a currency of care that represents ‘quality’. It represents change, innovation, inspiration and a movement towards a brighter world where the focus of ‘good care’ becomes the norm.
In addition to the iMins themselves being sold individually we are also promoting a range of iMin products. All our products are hand crafted and made here in the South west. Anne handmade the iMin and other local people have contributed to making these special items and helping us in raising the campaign for good care for dementia suffers. We hope you are as inspired to share in these purchases as we have been in creating them - please go ahead and visit our shop!
All items can be purchased online or direct from our Head Office at 12 Plymouth Road, Tavistock, Devon PL19 8AY.
